Presentation Title : Update on the development of hydrogen-based ironmaking process at POSCO
Dr. Myoung-Gyun Shin was awarded Ph.D of chemical metallurgy from Seoul National University in 1994. He joined the research department for FINEX development of Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technologies from 1993. After completion of pilot development, he moved to the POSCO for the commercialization of FINEX and involved in FINEX R&D department from 2001.
He has carried out process research, development, and engineering mainly on fluidized bed reduction systems in the phase of demonstration and commercial scale-up. Also, he carried out the several R&D project to enhance the FINEX process performance with success. From 2021 to 2022, he has been worked as the head of low carbon process research group in POSLAB and leaded the development of HyREX Process. Since 2023, he is working as head of Low Carbon Iron and Steel Making R&D center and supervising the R&D program of POSCO’s low-carbon iron and steelmaking technologies including HyREX.
